Snow ice cream

This was a fun activity to do with the kids on a frigid day. If you’ve got fresh snow on the ground you can try it too. Just add a splash of milk to clean fresh snow and mix it gently. We added a bit of vanilla syrup and drizzled a bit of chocolate sauce... Continue Reading →

Pumpkin Spiced Butter

This isn’t a recipe, it’s more of a general method. Start with several pie pumpkins. Wash and slice pumpkins into wedges. You can discard the pumpkin seeds, but we dry the seeds out for a day, then give them to the squirrels. Drizzle oil of your choice over pumpkins, or use a pastry brush. We... Continue Reading →

Sweet Pickle Relish

In his recession punk style, Mark cooked up some dandelion jam. It has a light floral flavor, and it’s the golden color... Continue Reading →

Vanilla bean honey infusion

Real vanilla bean adds a warming, sweet, and floral flavor that compliments just about any sweet treat it’s added to. This is a great addition to... Continue Reading →

Honey Infusions

Mark bought a quart of honey and a bunch of tiny jars to make spicy honey from his impressive crop of hydroponic chili peppers. Since I'm not a lover of spicy foods I tried making lavender infused honey. The results were tasty but I couldn't find a tea that didn't mask the lavender flavor. Next... Continue Reading →
